Foundations
Léanore is a musician based in Sydney, Australia. Her musical work is centered on the piano, alongside the viola, and shaped by long-term practice, attentive listening, and curiosity for sound. Her approach to music values patience and consistency. Rather than focusing on outcomes, she is interested in how musical understanding develops over time, through study, repetition, and experience.
Formation
Léanore’s relationship with the piano began in early childhood in Hong Kong, where she first learned to play with her mother. She later continued her studies in Montréal, Canada, where she worked with Yoko Sawai. After a period of study with Nada Brissenden (in Sydney, Australia), her path took an early and decisive turn. At the age of six, she was admitted to the Rising Stars program at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She now studies piano there under the guidance of Grace Kim.
Alongside her piano studies, Léanore began learning the viola in August 2023 with Ms. Josephine Lumanau through the Play at the Con program at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, broadening her musical perspective through ensemble playing and the rich sonorities of the string repertoire.
Presence
Over time, Léanore has had the opportunity to perform in a variety of musical contexts, both locally and internationally. These include performances in London, New York, Boston, and Sydney, in concert halls, academic settings, and public venues. Each performance experience contributes to her understanding of musical presence, preparation, and the relationship between performer, space, and audience.
Languages
Léanore works and communicates in English, French, and Mandarin Chinese. Moving between languages has shaped her sensitivity to cultural nuance, expression, and listening. This multilingual environment naturally informs her musical life, encouraging openness to different traditions, perspectives, and ways of thinking about music.
Imagination
Beyond music, Léanore has a strong interest in reading, writing, drawing, and science. She is also a keen reader of the Harry Potter series, which has nurtured her imagination and sense of storytelling. These interests influence how she approaches music, not as an isolated discipline, but as part of a wider creative and intellectual landscape.
